Westlake Village window screen rescreening

Working on and older home today we did a total window screen rescreen  job.  All the screens were old, white, shinny and brittle and desperately needed repair.  When we do and estimate, we check the frame to see if they can be salvaged or not.  If a frame is cracked, it probably has to be replaced, but if it’s a slight bend in the frame then we can re-screen it. When rescreening there a few choices to choose from and they all have a purpose.

  • Regular insect screen mesh
  • Pet screen
  • solar screen

The regular mesh is for basic protection from bugs.  The pet proof screen works magic on dogs, cats and kids and is 7 times stronger than regulad mesh, and last is the solar sun screen, and it’s for blocking the sun rays that come into your home.

Thousand Oaks screen door

I worked in Thousand Oaks today on a job that was missing a sliding screen door all together. It was a fairly new home by Newbury Park.  The patio door they had cracked when someone walked into it. The aluminum screen frame cracks right at the handle when pressure is applied.

I make new sliding screens that are made all out of extruded aluminum and are guaranteed for 10 years. They are measured and made on the spot for maximum precision, fit and sizing.

Replace my screen door in Thousand Oaks

I do Thousand Oaks almost every day and make sure to leave all my new customers fully satisfied with all the screen repair work I do.  When you replace the screen door, you will get the patio door made onsite, it has all metal parts and comes with a 10 year guarantee.

The frame comes with a baked enamel finish and the colors are anodized gray, white, bronze, some other finishes are custom ordered. The handles are also all metal and match the finish.  The lock latch is all metal and so are the rollers.  When the new screendoor is made custom and installed, it slides very good and stays that way for years.

Patio screen door installation in Thousand Oaks

The way to get the best results when installing a patio screen door is to first make sure you measure right, don’t get a sliding screen door that is too big or too small.  Next on the list is to vacuum and clean the track, make sure there is no dirt gravel or rocks on there because you will have problems with the screen rollers sliding properly. Make sure each individual roller is lubed as-well.

After you cleaned the track, lubricate both top and bottom.  Now you are ready to install the screen.  The tools needed are a phillips screw driver and a flat head screw driver.  Grab the screen and put it in on top first then push the bottom in making sure the rollers are centered on the track.  All screen doors have four adjustment screw holes to get the door straight, make sure you use them to balance the door.

Time to replace your screen door in Thousand Oaks

Most of our customers call us because they had enough of having to put the screen door back on the track after it fall off every time. When a sliding screen no longer slides good it might be time to replace it, or maybe have a screen company like mine that is mobile come out and give you a free estimate.

Most screens don’t have to be completely replaced, there are way to fix frames and rollers and the way they fit.  You will save some money and if repairing is possible they will be just as good. If they are bent or missing then you will have to get a new screen slider made for the openning.

Change screen for pet screen in Thousand Oaks

Most clients who call me and ask about changing their screen for the new pet proof pet screen.  The pet mesh really is great for longevity and great looks.  The darker look of it makes people question it but once the see the samples they love it. Tis material is 7 to 10 times stronger than all other insect screens and last a lot longer as well.

This mesh can be installed on just about all aluminum and vinyl screen frames.  I sell only one color and thats the black or charcoal color, it’s the clearest to see through and all new window manufactures use the same for it’s invisible like opacity.  The strength  of this material is incredible and can withstand lots of pushing, poking, scratching and runing into.

Time to fix bent screen door

Is your back yard patio screen door bent? Most clients have sliding screens that are bent right at the middle of the frame, where that black plastic handle is. This happens when someone walks into it, they don’t see it and BAM! We can help. There are two things that can be done in this situation.

  1. Repair the screen door bent frame
  2. replace the frame for a new one

The frame can actually be straightened out a bit and will work good. It will hold up for a few more years, it will hold the screen mesh in place properly and if the rollers are good, it will slide good too.  Sometimes fixing is not possible and in this case we will have to replace the screen all together. Most

Handle

When the frame bends the handle usually does not work properly anymore and also may need replacing.  I carry most parts and do most jobs onsite, so whether you are thinking of doing the job yourself or planning on calling me, I hope this information will help you a bit.

Screen repair tips of the day

Patio doors can sometimes be a pain and the solution is to get them to slide good. How do we do this without wasting to much time or money. You must first start with looking at the aluminum frame, hardware and rollers to see if the are all in good shape. Copper wheels are recommended for a smooth glide, if you have old plastic roller they might drop and stick.

Next make sure your screen has a good strong fiberglass wire mesh to last, remember that these screens in pool areas usually get a lot of use and you don’t want to have the light bugscreen used on windows because the y just will not last. What I offer recommend id petscreen instead of regular insect screening,it is very strong. You almost can’t even cut it with a knife. Just make sure that when installed the spline is nice and tight and you will not have any problems with it for many seasons.

Mobile Screen Repair in Thousand Oaks

We have been repairing screen doors for years but it looks like lately it’s been in Thousand Oaks.  Most of the work we do is repair and being mobile is a big convenience for homeowners.  Fixing a screen is not easy, it may seem easy but it’s not.  For a sliding screen door to slide good on the track and not fall off you need to know how to adjust it right.

Do you use your patio screen a lot? yes is what all my lients say and followed by “It’s the door I use the most”  do you realy want to try and fix something that is used 10 20 times a day if not more?  Not to metion the kids pushing on the mesh and cat’s and dogs jumping and crawling on them.  When it comes to screen doors they need to be in good working condition and slide right.  Why do you think most people hate the way their patio door works?  Because they don’t slide good and they don’t think they are important enough to fix them properly or replace the screen so they don’t have to suffer day in and day out. Is not suffering anymore important to you?  then start by calling us for a totally free estimate, no strings attached.
