Window Screen Repair Thousand Oaks

When a window screen looses it’s tab, you will have a very hard time taking the screen in and out. All window screens need to have at least a couple of tabs for an easier removal, if not you will go for the frame and this is the worst mistake you can do for your screen frame.  The screen needs to be straight in order for it to do it’s job.  If the frame is not square, bugs will get in.

How often should you repair or change you tabs, as often as you should change you screen mesh, every 7 to 10 years for best results, look and condition.  When a screen gets rescreened all old tabs should get replace with new ones, and you will have new tabs for years to come.  If you have further questions, please call me.

Time to change the sliding screen door

Most sliding screen door frames we change out, is because the frame is bent due to someone walking into it. The original screens installed by the builder is usually very weak and come with plastic parts that do not last. We custom make screens on the spot, our service is mobile and when buying a screen door we highly recommend this type of service.

The doors we make are measured on the spot and made on the spot.  This allows us to make sure the size is just right, the screen needs to slide slooth but not fall off the track.  This is sometimes a bit hard when encasement are mostly off square an shorter in some areas and higher in others.  This is not a problem for us, we have been doing it for 17 years and have no complaints, only good compliments.

Thousand Oaks screen door

I worked in Thousand Oaks today on a job that was missing a sliding screen door all together. It was a fairly new home by Newbury Park.  The patio door they had cracked when someone walked into it. The aluminum screen frame cracks right at the handle when pressure is applied.

I make new sliding screens that are made all out of extruded aluminum and are guaranteed for 10 years. They are measured and made on the spot for maximum precision, fit and sizing.

Screen repair tips of the day

Patio doors can sometimes be a pain and the solution is to get them to slide good. How do we do this without wasting to much time or money. You must first start with looking at the aluminum frame, hardware and rollers to see if the are all in good shape. Copper wheels are recommended for a smooth glide, if you have old plastic roller they might drop and stick.

Next make sure your screen has a good strong fiberglass wire mesh to last, remember that these screens in pool areas usually get a lot of use and you don’t want to have the light bugscreen used on windows because the y just will not last. What I offer recommend id petscreen instead of regular insect screening,it is very strong. You almost can’t even cut it with a knife. Just make sure that when installed the spline is nice and tight and you will not have any problems with it for many seasons.
